MY REVIEW:

Literally finished this book in a day and a half! Omg I have been waiting so long for this book and waiting for Hawk’s story.

We have seen Hawk over the course if the three previous books before and only gotten small glimpses into who he was.

He always seemed like the gruffest of the brother. And the one that didn’t like people period.

And although some of this may be true, I had to know Hawk’s side of the story. The previous book gave us a little about Hawk and Kit but not nearly enough.

Omg Hawk was such a tortured soul and so much nicer than I thought he was. He had a terrible childhood and was one of the boys rescued by Mako but it seemed as if he had the worst childhood prior to that than the other boys.

When Hawk saves Kit in What You See, she entrusts him with her 4 year old son Aric. To take care of and watch over until she can.

When she does this Aric sticks to Hawk like glue and Hawk can’t figure out why. He think’s he’s scary looking and barely speaks. But little Aric see’s past that and to the soul of Hawk and finally see’s a man he can trust.

Beaten but not broken,  Kit is trying to heal from her physical damage as well as her emotional damage. See’s been through a lot and trying to recovered is harder than she expected.

At least she knows her son is safe with Hawk and her best friend Frankie. When Kit is released from the hospital and brought to the Hermitage – where the 4 brother live with their significant others – all expect Hawk of course – she finds so many people willing to help her get back on her feet.

Still healing from the damage that was done to her Kit starts to open up to the family around her as well as Hawk. After all he has to be a good guy with the way her son won’t let him out of his sight.

“You good?”

“Yes.” She leaned against him for a moment. “Thank you. Again.”

“Can’t think of anyone I’d rather rescue.” The words were out before he could recall them.”

Hawk is always there for her and he can’t even understand it. He’s not use to being social. But he has a good heart.

“Evaluate sh*t everywhere. Like the grocery—where are the exits? Hiding places.”

Her eyes started to tear. “I don’t want to live like that.”

“Woman, you already do.” The blunt statement was like a slap in the face.”

While caring for her and her son he also teaches her to understand her surroundings and shows her how to defend herself. He also teaches her some of those survival skills he’s learned.

“Both of us are supposed to hug,” she said in a small grumpy voice. She gripped his wrists and put them behind her back before resuming her hug. All right then. Carefully, he hugged her, and with a sigh, she relaxed. Snuggled. “I missed you.” His voice sounded like someone had grated his vocal cords. Her breathing hitched. “Me too.” With a low sob, she started to shake, and then she cried. Appalled, shaken, he held her, even as contentment welled up inside—because she trusted him with her feelings. The entire time, her hold on him didn’t relax an iota.”

Both Hawk and Kit aren’t great at communicating and have been so hurt in the past that they aren’t sure how to deal with each other. But slowly they start to learn, and learn how to talk to each other. Although neither one of them are extra chatty.

“There aren’t many—if any—people who aren’t a mess at one time or another. Or lots of times. You’ve gone through a hellish thing. Try to remember that the people around you could have had their own distressing incidents or phases.”

Watching Kit heal and learn to trust again was so encouraging to see. Even though you’ve been through some tough times doesn’t mean you have to give up.

And, Hawk slowly let go of something from his past and move forward was everything!

“Love is something sent from heaven to worry the hell out of you. ~ Dolly Parton”

Hawk and Kit and Aric fit together so well, I am so glad that I got to read this book and see these three together.

And that I was able to see some of my favorite people from the previous books.

❤️💜💙 AMAZON 💜❤️💙

WOULD I RECOMMEND:

I loved this book! And Hawk omg he was so sweet and caring and considerate. He had so much patience with Kit and Aric.

I really enjoyed getting to see different sides of the story and seeing everyone from the all of the books. This was truly a great read!

I loved the family dynamic at the Hermitage and how everyone always pitches in to help the other. Also that they all contribute, everyone does work and no one is lazy. And if someone needs something they have each others backs.

The way that the town comes together to care for each other is so heartwarming. They really all help and care for one another.

I am just so sad that this is the end of this series, it was a great series. And I cant help but wanting more but I do understand that some series are meant to be shorter than others. I’m really going to miss Rescue Alaska and Mako’s sons.

So even though these books can be read as stand alone’s I definitely think reading them in order is the best way to go, that way you understand the whole story.
