MY REVIEW:

This was the very first book I read from Shayla Black.

I purchased this book after searing amazon for romance novels. I wanted something good and had never tried reading this author before.

So after reading the synopsis I decided to give it a try. I absolutely love second chance romance stories.

Logan loved Tara since they were in high school. She was his first real love and he was her first.

I couldn’t help but fall in love with Logan and how sweet he was. He’s loved Tara since high school and hasn’t stopped.

Tara or Cherry as Logan calls her is hurt because Logan broke up with her and she thinks he used her. She wants nothing to do with him. 

Twelve years later Tara is an FBI agent and needs to go out in the field to help find her friend Darcy who has gone missing. The only way to do this is to train at club Dominion.

Logan is now a Navy SEAL and has been hung up on Tara for twelve years and cant seem to get her out of his mind. The only thing that helps him when he is on leave is spending time training subs at club Dominion.

Logan is recruited to train Tara because she isn’t getting anywhere with her training Dom. Logan likes the hard case and agrees to train Tara before he even knows it’s her.

They are thrown together in an attempted to get Tara trained quickly because they don’t have that much time to save Darcy.

Tara constantly push back when Logan gives her orders, she wants to do the job but she is mad at Logan and doesn’t trust him to not be playing games or hurt her again.

Logan is on a mission to get Tara back no matter what it takes, even breaking up her engagement.

Tara is engaged to someone she doesn’t really love. She thinks they would be good partners and her stepdad likes him so why not? Her stepdad hated Logan and look how that ended.

Tara finally starts to believe that Logan will train her the way she needs to be trained. She starts to trust him and listens to why he left her in the first place. The REAL reason.

SPOILER ALERT:

Logan left Tara because the same day he made love to her the first time he went home to find his mother horrifically murdered and in a crazy twisted of events Logan gets a note to leave Tara alone of she’s next.

Logan is only a high school kid so he doesn’t know any better. She shows up late at school the same day Logan gets the note with a broken arm.

Logan takes the threat seriously and ends things with Tara.

They both never recovered, spending time together training for the mission starts to rekindle old feelings. Logan is completely ok with that but Tara is hesitant.

Logan’s best friend Xander is always there to be “helpful.” He assists in training Tara. But unlike the other women Xander assists Logan with, Tara is off limits.

Logan couldn’t get over Tara so much so that he was celibate for the last five years.

He also has a bunch of tattoos that shows how much he cares, but Tara has no clue yet. This part to me just stood out as to how much he loved her and wanted to be with her.

“For him, the sun rises and sets on you. If you decide to seek the truth, once you see and understand all of his tattoos, maybe you’ll believe me.”

The scenes where Logan trained Tara are pretty hot! This was all new to me since I had never really knew much about the BDSM world and I was intrigued.

Throughout this book there was a suspense element but I was able to figure it out pretty quickly and knew who it was before the end of the book.

Logan is determined to show Tara that they are perfect together, while Tara is thinking that them being together is a means to an end.

“She’d never required someone for her next breath the way she did Logan in that moment. God she’d been hoping to being them both closure, but now he felt like a part of her …. So necessary to her existence.”

Tara and Logan finally start to get on the same page when it comes to their relationship and then they find out who the criminal is and it kind of throws everyone off.

In the end Tara chooses Logan and he’s extremely happy about it.

“You’re so beautiful, baby I dreamed of you. Wanted you. Fantasized. For me, it’s always been you.”

I loved the way that Logan loved Tara, you could feel his emotions and how much he missed her and never ever got over her.

Tara is angry and hurt because she thinks that Logan used her.

It was heartwarming to see how Logan fought to be with Tara again. He wasn’t going to let her just push him to the side.

Logan was Tara’s first love and you could tell how much it hurt her when he dumped her.

Even though Logan was a jock and Tara was studious they fit so well together, they had an undeniable chemistry that never went away.

WOULD I RECOMMEND:

I would 1000% recommend this book to anyone. Especially if you love second chance love stories as I do.

I give this book 5 stars. I love how the Hero and heroine find their way back to each other.

I love how they connect on an emotional level as well as a physical level and that just makes their relationship stronger. 

I love these two together and I love the way the way this book was written.

This by far was my favorite in the series. This is also the book that made me decide to read Shayla Black’s other books.
