MY REVIEW:

Veronica is about to get married and she is not enthused at all couple that with her fiancé sending sexy text messages to another woman. She isn’t even that mad about it to be honest. But she is realizing what her life will look like and what she will have to endure for the rest of her life.

“There were a few obvious problems with this. First, my name wasn’t Valerie. Second, I hadn’t been in his bed last night. Finally, we were going to be busy this afternoon. GETTING MARRIED.”

So she decided that she will not be going through with it, so she does the thing she knows best she creates a show and gets out asap. But she’s left with nothing, no money, no place to stay and no money. She needs a job asap.

“You can’t leave me,” he said, his neck stretched forward like a goose. “I chose you. I pursued you. I rescued you from that tacky, low-class life and offered you a place in real society. I won’t be dumped by a—a—two-bit, uneducated, red-lipped showgirl!” The crowd gasped. “Showgirl!” Shrinking back, I gathered up my dress in my hands, revealing my sneakers. “I am a Radio City Rockette, you two-timing, overgrown frat boy, and I’ve got more class in my pinkie toe than you’ll ever have!”

She’s in a small town for her wedding so she decides that maybe she can find something to do in the small town until she figures out her next move.

“I was broke, I was stranded, and I was probably homeless. But I was free.”

Enter Austin who needs a nanny for his kids for the summer. His sister was suppose to help but she has a last minute job that she has to do.

Austin is grumpy and very particular about how he likes things to be done within his household. And very particular about his kids. So he wants whoever watches his kids have to have some kind of experience with kids, cooking and have a car. And Veronica has none of those things.

So after everyone’s prodding and Austin seeing that Veronica really needs help he decides to take her on. Not to mention the kids love her. Veronica does an amazing job with the kids and tries her best with everything else.

“Make grumpy single dad’s brown eyes pop? Check, I thought with satisfaction. Put that on my chore chart, you big hot lug.”

Austin is automatically attracted to Veronica and that’s why he was so hesitant to hire her in the first place. And the attraction is mutual.

I loved watching Austin and Veronica get closer and connect with each other. Austin doesn’t usually connect or talk about things with other people but he finds himself opening up to Veronica and telling her things he doesn’t tell people.

And Veronica is finding that she can trust Austin in a way that she couldn’t even trust her ex-fiancée. These two are so perfect for each other and throw in two adorable kiddos and this is a perfect story.

This was my first book from this author and I cannot say I was disappointed. In fact I was pleasantly surprised and I want to read the rest of the series and the stories from each of the siblings.
