MY REVIEW:

I waited so long for this book and I was not disappointed. I took my time reading this book because as with all of Lexi Blake books I didn’t want it to end.

As in the previous book Kelsey is coming back to a world she doesn’t know and she’s lost twelve years. Not only has she lost time she’s lost memories and experiences with her husbands and son and everyone around her. She’s lost her best friend to the evil side. And she really doesn’t know where to start.

She’s mad and freaked out that so much time has past and was taken from her by stupid Myrddin. Now she has to figure out where all of her relationships lie and how to fix the gap that has taken place.

And even though she’s angry she did such a good job of holding it altogether. Had this been the Kelsey of the Hunter series she would have lost her mind. And taken it out on everyone.

She did a lot better than Zoey in reigning in her feeling and not making her son feel bad. But she didn’t hesitate to criticize Trent’s upbringing of the kids lol. And Gray’s decision to protect her family lol.

I often didn’t ask what was in those tacos of Eddie’s. Especially on the dinosaur plane.” “That was a good idea on your part,” Trent assured her. “Though I have to admit, brontosaurus was pretty damn tasty. And nobody chide me about eating endangered creatures. I assure you those suckers weren’t in any danger of going extinct there.”

Kelsey was tough on Gray, probably more so than Trent but this has always been their relationship, Gray and Kelsey are explosive because they make decisions that the other doesn’t like and Trent tried to smooth everything out.

I sighed. Not even two days back on the plane and I had a dead body to deal with. Some things never changed.

I loved how she got to know her son and his relationship with Evan and how she respected it and fought for it. She defended them and she would do it against the world if necessary and I loved seeing that.

“She’s pregnant, you know,” Fen said around a mouthful of cinnamon roll, his eyes narrowed. “You can’t get her more pregnant than she already is.”

And of course losing her best friend was probably one of the hardest things, Liv had always been there for Kelsey especially when she was at her worst so Kelsey can’t give up on her. I loved her loyalty and determination to get her best friend back to the good side.

Twelve years. Twelve years. Myrddin had taken twelve fucking years. My son’s childhood. Twelve years of my marriage, of love between us. Gray was gone because I’d been trapped. Olivia. He’d taken my best friend.

I loved watching her try to find her place with her men again and realize that things were different and they had to do things differently now. Things had changed and time had passed but the love was still there, they just needed to come back to one another.

He was the Eeyore of the demonic world.

“I meant I thought you should be okay being kinky when we have sex, Gray. I did not mean for you to become one of the thirteen princes of Hell,” I shot back.

I also really enjoyed watching her relationship with Evan and how Evan started to really speak up and show who she was under Kelsey’s respect and teachings.

“I don’t like politics,” Evan said with a frown. “I prefer being a fighter.” “You and me both, sister.” I was on Evan’s side in this. “I prefer to leave the politics to the men and kick a little ass.”

“Come along, book. We’ll follow Kelsey around and watch her baddassery and solve a crime while the boys play with microscopes and run around the woods. We have to find a murderer.” Yep. Woman’s work.

Everything about this book was well done. It helped me get some of the questions I had answered although I still have many more and I suspect I will have to wait for the rest of the books to have them answered.

I loved seeing Duffy again, this broke my heart a little too because it was so bittersweet. And seeing what happened with Mia and the Days I can’t wait to see that story line play out. I want it right now lol but alas I will have to wait.

I’m also really interested to see where Evan and Fen go from here. Especially since Evan’s book is next. I would really love to see her reconcile with her mother and see a bit more about her relationship with her dads.

This was an amazing book and would recommend but you have to start at the beginning because it doesn’t make sense if you don’t.

This is another favorite by this author to add to my list. I just love everything about the way this book was done and how old characters were brought back and the glimpses into other things were done.

I am so excited to see where this series goes and what’s next for all the characters.
