MY REVIEW:

This is the first book in the new series by Cherise Sinclair that takes place in an Alaskan wilderness. I love everything so far that Ms. Sinclair has written so of course I was on board for this new series.

The series is about four brothers that met in foster care and was dealing with all the crappy things that life was throwing there way until Mako (the crazy ex-military survivalist) came in and saved the boys. He took them to Alaska and raised and trained them.

Mako has passed away, but had become a part of a small town in Alaska, which was Rescue. The town was not active for sometime. They has lost some business but now it is starting to become active again and needs some help.

Gabe is the oldest of the bothers and has protected people for as long as he can remember, even when he was a boy he was always the leader trying to save the other boys. But it hasn’t gotten him anywhere but hurt and disrespected. Gabe is strong, protective and loyal. 

But Gabe has had a tough time and just wanted to be alone, so he holes up in his dry cabin. And just doesn’t want to be bothered with people. So imagine his surprise when his brothers tell him that Mako wants them to revive the town with Gabe as the police chief.

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot shoot, the courage to shoot the things I can, and the wisdom to hide their bodies. ~ Unknown”

He’s annoyed but he does his duty with the thoughts of getting it out of the way and he begins learning the town.

Audrey is somewhat of a shut in. she’s shy and doesn’t really put herself out there. She lives in the city of Chicago so she is able to hide away and just go to work and home.

Audrey is attacked and runs, she somehow finds her way to Rescue Alaska, which is a bit of a shock for the city girl. Audrey is strong, independent, super shy and intelligent. She knows she needs to hide and has to find a place that unsuspecting to do it in.

When Audrey moves to Rescue she realizes that she’s going to have to push herself out of her comfort zone and interact with people way more than she ever had before.

“Brooke, you’re giving the sisterhood a bad name. Hitting on someone’s boyfriend, right in front of her? Seriously? That’s just weird and…needy. Do you really mean to come across like that?”

Audrey and Gabe meet and it’s not the best of first meetings but somehow they keep being thrown together and they start to like it each other.

The police chief and the shy librarian somehow work and Gabe ends up finding someone that’s nothing like anyone he’s ever known. And Audrey steps out of her comfort zone to let love in.

These two are so sweet together and they take the time to get to know each other. I loved seeing them spending time together and learning things about each other. Well as much as Audrey would reveal. After all she is in hiding.

Gabe wants nothing more than to help Audrey but she wont tell him what’s going on.

All of Audrey’s secrets are revealed and everyone bands together to help her.

WOULD I RECOMMEND:

YES! I would recommend this new series in a heartbeat! This book was so good and I loved this new series.

I loved how shy Audrey pushed herself to talk to people and make friends and be around people. Especially because she was so socially awkward, it was adorable.

And Gabe starting to like the town that he was protecting and start to let go of the animosity he had for people.

I really enjoyed seeing both Audrey and Gabe falling for the town and how the town accepted them. Well at least most of the town, there’s always those people no matter where you go that like to cause trouble which I’m sure we’ll see more of to come.

Audrey and Gabe fit so well together, I really enjoyed reading there story and can’t wait to see where Cherise Sinclair takes us from here.
