MY REVIEW:

Beth and Nolan wow! We first saw Beth in dark Citadel, but we didn’t know anything about her. She just seemed scared and Z knew that. But why? We had no clue.

We find out that Beth has had a terrible past with a sadistic husband and she is scared for anyone to have that control over her again. So she chooses partners that won’t be as terrifying or strong. But it doesn’t help her, she needs the very thing that terrifies her a strong Master.

Beth is faced with the challenge of losing her membership or taking a Dom she’s afraid of. She has no choice she loves the shadowlands so she has to take the cruel looking Dom.

Nolan sees that Beth chooses weaker partners but can’t really submit to them. Master Z gives him the task of helping Beth.

Nolan thinks he can help her and starts to really see the woman that Beth is beneath the fear and he really starts to like that woman. And wanted to see more of that woman.

“So he slid down on the couch, leaned his head back, and enjoyed the simple contentment of having a snuggly, satisfied sub in his arms.” 

Beth wants Nolan too but is terrified because of her past. And she knows that he doesn’t like liars. And she is lying to him, no matter the reason.

I loved watching Beth and Nolan together, she was so scared and he was so patient and kind and strong. Kind of the opposite of what you would expect when Beth describes him.

“Feelings are feelings. They don’t have dumb or smart labels, sugar.

He helps her in a way that no one before was able to. And gets her to open up and talk to him about what she likes and doesn’t like.

He also takes care of her and this is completely unexpected to her, especially with her past relationship.

“Beth, when a Dom takes control, leaving no choices for the sub, he has to see to all her needs, not just sexual, but emotional and physical also. If your Dom doesn’t do that, then you find a new Dom.”

And Beth’s courage to overcome her fears and get what she needs was so inspiring to watch. I absolutely love these characters together!

We also see Nolan giving Beth the pleasure she craved but was too scared to have before him. She was terrified and unable to relinquish control. These turned into some very steamy scenes.

We also saw Beth open up and start to venture out into the world again, she was living in fear for so long she forgot what it was like to really live.

Nolan was the perfect partner for Beth and she turned out to be the perfect partner for him.

WOULD I RECOMMEND:

Yes! Yes! And yes! I would definitely recommend this book. The crazy thing is it took me a while to read this book, because I had read the first two books in the series and I wasn’t in love with them.

So I waited a little to get on this train. But I am sooooo happy that I decided to get this book. This book was so worth it. Ms. Sinclair definitely delivers.

What I really liked about it was that she wrote about how the characters met and got to know each other over time.
