MY REVIEW:

Omg this book! I was so ready for this book after Heartless. I loved that book and I was so ready to get into the next book in this series. I already knew I loved all the tropes that this book would have, so I was ready.

Jasper and Sloane have been friends forever, they basically grew up together but wanted everyone to know they are not related but they are friends.

“I mean, you look beautiful,” I rush out, grimacing when I note her eyes widening. “You always do. You just don’t look . . . happy?”

Sloane has always had a crush on Jasper but she knew he didn’t feel the same way about her so she’s tried to move on with her life. She’s a successful Ballerina who is on her way to getting married to someone that works with her father.

Plus, I remember how Sloane looks at a man when she really wants him. And she isn’t looking at her fiancé the way she used to look at me.

Her father is super controlling and wants her to be docile and compliant, which is hella annoying.  And her fiancée is no better, he just wants her to be seen and not heard. But yet she’s still determined to marry him because she feels like it’s the right thing to do.

“You always look good to me. Concealer, no concealer. Fancy dress, Harvey’s sweat suit. Smooth hair”—his hand waves over me with a low chuckle—“ whatever this is. It doesn’t matter. You’re you.”

Jasper does not like this one bit. He can’t believe she’s getting married to a man that would treat her that way and all because her dad said so. But Jasper knows first hand the kind of person Sloane’s dad is.

“That’s probably what you tell all the girls, Gervais.” “Nah, Sunny. You’re my only girl.”

Jasper helps Sloane run away from her wedding which is absolutely the best. Willa was the best in this scene. I can’t even explain how much I loved her in this scene. And somewhere along the way Jasper starts to realize that he has feelings for Sloane, but it literally had to smack him in the face.

Sloane: He’s sad. He’ll be okay.

Willa: You should bang him.

Summer: Wils, that can’t always be your advice. Willa: Why not? It’s solid advice. Worked out for you.

Summer: She just fled her wedding.

Willa: Yeah, but that fucking guy sucked. Jasper has that hot, tortured vibe going for him.

Sloane: He’s sad. Not horny, Willa.

Willa: He can be both. Turn that frown upside down, baby girl!

Then things really start to heat up and we see the chemistry between Sloane and Jasper. And lets not forget Jaspers demanding side – whew!

Jasper: I don’t like talking to people.

Sloane: You talk to me.

Jasper: You’re not people.

Sloane: Lmao. What am I then?

Jasper: My person.

I love how Sloane started to become her own person and stand up to the men trying to run her life. And how Jasper started to open up and let Sloane in, although they were always best friends it seems like he let her in even more and became happier for it.

“See, Sloane? You can wear someone else’s ring, but we both know you’ve always been mine.”

I loved Sloane and Jasper together! And I loved reading this book. Elsie Silver is becoming one of my new favorite authors that I’m adding to my preorder list! I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Elsie Silver is a Canadian author of sassy, sexy, small town romance who loves a good book boyfriend and the strong heroines who bring them to their knees. She lives just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia with her husband, son, and three dogs and has been voraciously reading romance books since before she was probably supposed to.

She loves cooking and trying new foods, traveling, and spending time with her boys–especially outdoors. Elsie has also become a big fan of her quiet five am mornings, which is when most of her writing happens. It’s during this time that she can sip a cup of hot coffee and dream up a fictional world full of romantic stories to share with her readers.
