MY REVIEW:

Hart and Diem have known each other almost all their lives, meeting at a young age and becoming friends and growing up together. From the moment they met they became friends and that relationship grew so much over the years.

After years of being friends and talking all the time they are so close that they are best friends. This was amazing to see that even though they don’t live in the same state they make sure to talk all the time and stay connected.

When Diem is 17 and Hart is 19 they decide they want to be together, this is when they really start to notice each other as boy and girl. And it was quite possibly the best time of their young lives. Then Diem goes back home and it hit with reality and instead of leaning on her best friend, her boyfriend, the person that’s been there for her for everything, she decides to ghost him.

Her parents support this decision and help her and support her. They end up moving to a different state and this happens to be the same state that Hart and his parents are in.

They bump into each other again and still Diem decides to hide the truth from him until he stumbles upon it himself. They finally have to face things head on and deal with the reality of the situation. And deal with old feeling that may not have went away.

So I read an excerpt of this in one of my favorite authors newsletter and I was intrigued so I went to Amazon and read the excerpt that they have on there and I was so interested in seeing where this book went. It gave me all the angsty vibes that I love and I wanted more.

So I started reading and really didn’t like the reason Diem gave for not informing Hart that she was pregnant, there was nothing in the book thus far that would say that Hart would not want to know. So I was already annoyed by that but I was like ok she’s young she made a mistake. But the parents not saying anything rubbed me the wrong way, they were best friends with Hart’s parents and should have let them know.

Fine moving on, when Diem sees Hart again after 5 years she doesn’t tell him again and he finds out on his own. And of course he wants to be in his son’s life.

What I didn’t like was how Hart was wronged but somehow everything was his fault. Like Diem was the one that hide his kid from him but that was his fault and he somehow messed up. Then he made a comment about her running away when things get tough and guess what that’s what she did but he’s the one in the wrong. It was the truth she ran away and didn’t even tell him. Like make it make sense.

Then the whole situation with his last hookup BEFORE Diem came back into his life. First and foremost they didn’t even check the times to see if she could have really been pregnant. Second Diem found another reason to push Hart away even though this happened BEFORE she was back in the picture, not to mention she was the one that ran away.

Then the whole Diem was so self sacrificing and a super mom, but she didn’t inform the dad or his parents where she could have gotten more support and help. She was selfish and childish and her parents encouraged her and never told Hart’s parent even though they stayed in touch. HUH?

When the parents finally find out they have a grandson they’re not mad they just want to meet him. Which I get but I would be pissed if my so called friends couldn’t even tell me about my grandson. Hart and his parents had a right to know, but that was taken away from them.

It did seem like she only want Hart for sex and to beg and grovel when she was the one in the wrong the whole time. After a while I was so over her behavior, Hart deserved so much better. He loved her with his whole being and would do anything for her but she didn’t do the same for him.

And Diem was always ready to break up with Hart or push him away and I couldn’t understand where that behavior came from she had loving parents that supported her no matter what, Hart treated her with so much love and respect, I just don’t understand where her messed up behavior came from. Even when he came back into her life and tried to be with her again he couldn’t stop telling her how much he loved her and wanted to spend his life with her.

After they finally decided to get together there’s more of the book to read I was wondering there was more pushing Hart away coming but to me it was just more scenes that wasn’t really necessary. Like the whole fire scene, I don’t understand the purpose of it.

Idk this one started off really good for me but just went downhill from there. This one was not for me. I usually love books with angst but this felt like forced angst.
