This story takes place when Rylee returns to town for her brothers Trevor’s funeral. She is heart broken and sad to say the least. She returns home with her 7 year old son after many years away and decides she wants to revive her brother’s bar as it was his dream.

Rhodes was Trevor’s best friends and business partner, he is also heart broken and saddened from losing Trevor. Both of these characters are in a broken place and don’t really know how to get out of it, not to mention the wounds are fresh. Rhodes also has a 7 year old daughter that he’s taking care of.

Their relationship is so sweet, she has him wrapped around her little finger and Rylee’s son also has her wrapped around his little finger.

Rylee’s plan to revive the bar goes really well and her and Rhodes have to interact with each other more and more. At first he was a bit of a jerk but that was because he was caught up in his own pain.

Which he quickly rectified and even admitted that he was a jerk. I really enjoyed how self aware he was and how well he knew himself. He didn’t try to deny the feelings he had for Rylee, in fact he embraced them.

And who doesn’t love a story where the Hero falls first? Rhodes is so sweet especially with his daughter. I absolutely love the kids in this book they were definitely adorable busy bodies.

So the only thing that I will say is that I wish I got more on both characters, I had to wait until almost 90% in the book to get their back stories which was a bit frustrating throughout the whole book I only knew about the tragedy that they shared, but not much else about what shaped them as the people they are. I guess I wanted more.

Other than that there was spicy, banter and adorable meddling kiddos that knew exactly what they wanted for themselves and their parents.

I loved that Rhodes knew what he wanted and didn’t play games or hide who he was, he may have pulled back a bit at times as not to push Rylee too fast but he he knew he wanted her.

I’ve never read a book with both main character had kids so this was new for me and I really enjoyed it. And I loved the relationships the parents had with their kids too.
